Title: Bonsai with deep pot
Post by: Bonsaiteen on January 09, 2014, 11:06 PM
I was wondering why this bonsai is in a deep pot. ??? Is it for stabilization or for a certain type of bonsai? Please explain.

Typically, cascade style bonsai are planted in this type of pot to allow for the cascading foliage. Otherwise the foliage would drag on the table or ground. Google cascade bonsai and you will see many like this.

More typically you will see a shallower pot and that pit set upon a taller display stand. A pot like this tends to overpower the tree.

The pot this tree is in looks bigger than the tree. It definitely takes away from the tree
