I was wondering if anybody was planning on visiting the BLC's Open House.  Free food, free demonstrations, a student exhibition of trees, ...and I imagine Randy's got his trees ready for all visitors to see as well.  Assuming a couple of things fall into place, I've made arrangements to be there Saturday.

Check out http://bonsailearningcenter.com for more details.

Wayne,

I was up at the BLC all day on Friday, June 25th taking a workshop. I also entered five trees in exhibition. It really is a wonderful place to see some great trees and also very humbling to see the local talent in our region. I would certainly encourage anyone in the area to visit the BLC this weekend.

Right now, it still looks good that I'm going to be able to make it. We'll see tomorrow morning.

I guess we don't have a large contingent of Carolina/N.Ga bonsaists on this board.  I hope to get a few pictures of the exhibit & demo(s).  I can't wait to see what all's in store tomorrow.

The trip is certainly worth it.  There appeared to be a good turn out on hand to see the creation of a forest (by Randy and ...apprentice?) and the initial stylings of 3 junipers (tiny, small, and not big).  The student exhibition was nicely done, with some of OUR members (@ bsg) participating.  I recognized several right off.

I got tons of pictures that I'll be updating the thread with at some point, but my life got busier today so I'll have to either do it in batches or (more likely) later.

While you wait, if you have opportunity to get to the Bonsai Learning Center in Charlotte NC its worth the drive.  When he throws in free hot dogs, snacks, free beer if you're so inclined, and 20% off your purchases ...it makes the decision a lot easier.

Wayne,

I try to go to Randy's every year but was unable to get out there this year.  When you get a chance please post your images.  I'm from the Raleigh, NC area and I would encourage anyone near BLC to get out there and check out Randy's place.  It is truly inspiring.

Oh to have a backyard like this.  Randy's displays and trees are top-notch.
