Title: Bonsai in WI
Post by: Jim Doiron on April 18, 2012, 12:48 PM
Hey all, I am working in the wisconsin dells/madison/baraboo this week and it looks like I'm going to have a day of waiting tomorrow.  Anybody know of any bonsai activities up this way? Thanks

I managed to find some bonsai related fun in baraboo.  Found this book in a little independent book store published in 1969. It is interesting to see techniques and recommendations from the past. I especially appreciated the section on building training boxes with finger joints and torching/brushing the outside which is " a finish often used in the orient".

I also liked the part on Bonkei and Saikei where the author suggests using "powdered asbestos" as a replacement for "keto". :-\
