Bonsai gifts
« on: May 18, 2010, 08:57 PM »
A bonsai buddy, Bill Brice from KC, sent me some nice gifts. The list is: Strawberry plant(accent), Apple(unknown variety), Satsuki azalea(unknown variety) w/ Arborvitae rooted cuttings in the pot, Buddha's Ear(what was labeled on the bag I think) accent, Jacqlyn Helle-something Elm w/ Juniper rooted cutting in the pot, and last by certainly not least 2 Itoigawa Junipers. Said he was sending me some goodies. I had no idea what was coming other than him mentioning the Apple. I really appreciated and like all he sent but I'm just on cloud 9 with those little Ito's  ;D

Anyway, thought I'd share my new additions to the family :)

Looks like a good score.  Irene sent me some strawberry plants last year.  I'll see if I can get a photo when it's not raining.

I missed the 2nd batch of photos when I saw this earlier.  Looks like a good score.  I've found bonsai people to be pretty generous, and this only helps to bolster that opinion.

I received a strawberry plant too from Irene. Looks nothing like the one Bill sent me. Hers has wide fan-shaped fleshy leaves, puts up a flower stalk like a hosta, shoots out root runners that propagate more and bears no fruit. The one from bill has pre-fruit on them, long tender leaf stalks with paper thin leaves.
