Title: American Bonsai Society
Post by: MatsuBonsai on May 10, 2012, 08:20 AM
I'm just wondering what the general opinion of the American Bonsai Society is. Good, bad, ugly?  Are you a member?  Why or why not?  Benefits?  Failures?

I am Matsu.  I want to support the US bonsai society, plus their magazine is always a good read.

I am a member too. Anything that promotes bonsai nationwide, for $40.00 a year is a good value. The quarterly journal is great too.

I'm a member and write for them off and on.  The Journal is a nice way to see what is going on in American bonsai. I'm not sure what the actual organization does.  I know 4-5 past and current board members but have never asked them about mission statement or the like.

Owen,

Unfortunately I'm of the same opinion.  I'm not sure I'll be renewing my membership next year.

I think I'll direct my support (and dollars) towards Bill, Boon, Michael, Ryan, and the many others that are very clear in their efforts to improve the art and spread their knowledge of and passion for bonsai in the US.

I heard Ryan Niel has committed to writing some articles for them and some other services (cause Ryan has so much extra time on his hands these days) LOL!! ;)
