why is there politics in the bonsai world.... just dont understand why people feel the need to act like that

A better question might be - "why should bonsai be different than anything else?"

Because humans are political animals  (in Greek:  zoon politikon) as the first philosphers already realized.

politics and huge egos are one thing that are an abundance of. but not to say that there still a whole lot of bonsai professionals and atheists that are great people morally and just enjoy the art of bonsai. why walter over in europe there are not self proclaimed bonsai presidents...
