Rick, your numbers are a little off from the chart posted at the link I gave.

After thinking about this one, i'm not sure I understood the question.

Are you asking for a conversion from the AWG system to metric (mm), or are you asking for a strength comparison from copper (usually given as AWG) to a comparable aluminum size (usually given in mm).

The first I answered.  The second will take considerable more work I think.

Wayne,

I'm not sure where these numbers come from as it was a aluminium wire/copper wire comparison chart that I cut and pasted into a word document some years ago. For all I know it is a useful comparator. Why someone would need a comparator is beyond me as we use the size wire that does the job whether it be copper or aluminium.

The first time I had to order copper wire I went by Jim Gremel's comparison chart to figure out what I approximately needed. It was very helpful.

Thanks Wayne,Rick and Dorothy. The link Dorothy gave is just what I needed. I want to buy some copper wire but wasnt sure about what size I would need. I have only aluminum wire at present. 2.5 being the largest. I plan on doing some major bending(for me it is) on my Juniper Prostrata. New to bonsai, only 6 months so this will be another learning experience. Thanks for the replies.       Joe
