US natives that flower in fall or winter?

Hi Yenling,
there are a couple of flowering trees native to California that could work:
Manzanita - lots of varietals that you can choose from based on your very specific area - touchy to root pruning if I recall from limited past experience.
Califonia redbud - Cercis Canadensis - might bloom a little later in spring..gorgeous flowers on bare wood...you can see lots of them growing around Lake Berryessa.
also another couple USA natives could be:
American persimmon - Dyospyros Virginiana   not sure of history growing them in California  also might be late blooming
Texas Ebony - Ebenopsis ebano   if you live in a very dry part of California this could do well -

I believe GregB (Brenden?) has done work with Manzanita and may've figured them out.
