Umemodoki (Ilex serrata)
« on: February 18, 2014, 09:02 PM »
Here are a couple of Umemodoki I got from Yuzo Maruyama in Sacramento a couple of years  ago. They were over tall sjohin with nasty roots and bases. We air layered last spring. Opened up the bags and found good roots around on one, and a limited number of roots on the second. Cleaned up the cuts and edges as needed, a little rooting hormone, packed in sphagnum and then small bonsai soil in the mesh basket. Check again next spring !
