Jerry:
This double trunk is allowed to grow wild until all the flower buds are developed.  After the flowers emerge from their buds. They look like little miniature pomegranates, but they are quite shiny.  Then they split and the flower emerges looking like red crepe paper.

Here are a few pictures to help you.

Warmest regards,
Carl

Your starting with fruit!!!  Hmmmm.  I've yet to be able to develop fruit.  I was told to tap the tree to self-polinate, but all I managed to do was cause some flowers to drop! :(   Oh well, I do appreciate the flowers!!!

AlexV:
I know several people who self polinate their flowering trees using a que-tip or cotton ball and just bounce from flower to flower.  It seems to work well.

Alex

clrosner:
I've tried the que-tip. but so far no success!  Maybe, I'm using the wrong brand of Q-tips? NAAH! That can't be it!
