Yenling, I did a little digging around on Tokiwagaki. The taxonomic info is Diospyros Morrisiana. In further digging, I couldn't find a single source of seed anywhere on the continent. Bummer.

I had a fuyu the other night. After eating so many D. virginiana over Thanksgiving, the D. kaki 'Fuyu' was rather bland by comparison. Nice and juicy, but lacked the lovely 'spice' notes that the american fruit has. The american was also a but sweeter. In favor of the D. kaki, absolutely no astringency. They definitely are different from each other.
