I wonder if anyone here has had any experience with Montpelier (or sometimes spelled with 2 L's) Maple, Acer monspesulanum. They do not seem widely used as bonsai, but seem to have good characteristics. Small leaves, spring flowers, good fall color... I would like to know if there would be any developmental tricks to these, as I have read that they are slower growers, and slow to heal wounds. I've found a nice stock trunk, that I'll be starting to develop branching on next season. Thanks!
