Coast Live Oak Yamadori
« on: May 07, 2013, 02:20 AM »
I'm going to attempt to Dig/Bonsai a couple of Coast Live Oaks from my property. The first one is about 2.5" dia trunk, I chopped it a couple of months ago and wired it this week. I'll probably dig it early next spring. Pic 2 is a top view after it was wired.

The second has a trunk size of about 6.0"s, I topped it the other day just above the lowest branch and will take it on down to about 18" after the new branches emerge in about two more months. Then I'll let the branches harden up and wire it.

These will be a lot of work to dig but Oaks are tough. I'll cut some of the roots this fall and defoliate them before digging.
