Akeppler, i am definitely a beginner, and as such have only ever heard of removing branches flush to prevent unwanted bulges, but now in retrospect it makes sense that one can then also leave the wood non flush to create a wanted bulge. Something similar to what i have heard called citricication?

 Herman, no problem at all, I'm sure you meant nothing by it, my use of it was meant in the exact same way, albeit a little curt, sorry about that =/
