20 year progression of a larch

This is a larch grown from a seed I had sent to my mother when I was living in Kyoto.
She had grown this tree for 10 years when she gave it to me (first pic).
I put it in the ground in 2004 but growth was first very slow because of a lack of rain during a few summers.
I dig it up in 2011.  Nebari is really poor.
