Pinus Radiata no. 01
« on: January 09, 2012, 03:38 AM »
Hello all,

I have finally organised all my photos, so i can stop lurking :)

This is my first Pinus Radiata, and probably my first pine.
Radiata are very common here in New Zealand for timber.  I bought this as a very overgrown nursery tree in 2001 or 2002. This tree is approx 75 cm tall.

I have maintained this as per JPB for the last couple of years and it has improved greatly.  I'm looking of guidance/comments in all areas especially pot selection.

I'd be interested in seeing this one wired out completely.  There are some open spots up high on the trunk that I believe would fill in were the canopy wired.  I see its got a pretty good amount of (heavy) wire on it now, so detail wiring might not be in order yet.

The long straight deadwood doesn't do a lot for me, particularly at that thickness.  Could interest be added to that section somehow?

I have just last night removed all the heavy wire as it was just startin to bite in.  The branches have pretty much set as they were wired.

I agree the detailed wiring needs to be done to make the best of the foliage it has.  I am being careful not to work this one too fast.

The deadwood has not been worked very much so yes some effort there to make it more interesting.  Other than carving and bleaching, and minor Changes to the angle, I'm not sure what to do.  Any suggestions?
