My Guy Guidry juni
« on: April 28, 2010, 05:50 PM »
Can't remember if I've posted this one or not. I aquired it last year. I repotted it as I thought the pot it was in was too small and repositioned the planting angle. There was a parallel(horizontal) part of the trunk that bothered me. Pics are of before it was pinched back and after alternating.

hi mate,

Have you considered bring the tree into a more upright position? I fell if you tilt it to the right (in the first pic) it will bring it up into a more upright position and turn it into an informal upright with an overall better flow ;)

It originally was more upright when I bought it. There was a place on the trunk that was horizontal. like this "_". Was distracting. In time I may re-evaluate the tree and choose another planting angle. I do need to update not only this thread but all my others. I've just been too busy trying to find another job and find a way to get my meds at little or no cost. May have to start sacrificing alot of my trees. Thank you for your input Jamie I will take it into consideration.

Don that is how Guy styled it. It wasn't me :) The only thing I did in those pics was repot it into a slightly bigger pot and changed the angle. Advice from other bonsai enthusiasts on another site suggested changing the angle due to a "bar branch type" area in the trunk. The position Guy had it in the original pot the bottom branch was more horizontal. I will evaluate the angle and see if I need to place it back more upright. I've also noticed since allowing this tree to grow this season that that bottom branch is becoming too end heavy thus pulling it down even more. Even though there still isn't much more growth on the end than in these earlier pics. I did remove the wire Guy placed on it earlier this yr. I placed it at this angle to give a more rugged mountain top feel. Suggestions from others would place this tree in a crescent type pot that doesn't have a high side(if that makes sense).
