Just back from Bonsai Mirai
« on: July 16, 2014, 11:54 AM »
Just completed my second class with Ryan.  I learned so much, again.  This class was on summer work on junis...cleaning out branches with beginning thoughts of basic design concepts.  Also, deadwood creation, and live vein work.  Got to clean the bark of a 1k y/o rmj that was absolutely incredible.

These classes....or I bet, any class from one of our foremost professionals now in the US, has taken not only my fund of knowledge up several notches, but I feel SO much more confident to do the needed work.  Can't wait till I return in Oct to begin styling trees!

Sorry, no pics ;)

Sorry to derail your thread so early on.  I'll admit to being bummed that you didn't get any pictures, but I imagine you were probably too busy learning cool stuff!  I'm just jealous.

:)

Great to hear Adair your experience with Boon is the same! In the 20+ workshops I've done over the last 20yrs, however great they were, none ever came close to the level of skill and competence I feel presently.

And WAyne, I've been there 4-5x incl just visits.  I have some pics from my first couple visits which I'll try to find.  But you're correct, I spent my down time studying his designs and exc. wiring techniques.  I was more concerned trying to lock that stuff into m long term memory than taking pics.  Plus, it was about 95F and bright sun all day, not the best for pics.  I'll try next Oct guys.

You're correct but I don't want anyone to think I paid that much attention to it. :o ;D

Pic's or it doesn't count!  jk

I think these programs are the best way of learning Bonsai besides flying to Japan.  Nice to hear you are learning so much!

Thanks Yenling...I'm counting the days till Oct ;)  Been cleaning live veins all summer long, extremely slow going and much more difficult to do without harming the lv.  Funny, kind of makes me feel like I was 10 y/o again with all the manual dexterity you'd expect from a 10 y/o ;))

But, I am getting better...slowly

I do have some photo's from earlier this yr

I have more, but I have to load 1 at a time or I get an error.  And others, it's not downsizing to 512k.
