« on: October 30, 2011, 09:37 PM »
I just bought this olive from Bob Shimon at The GSBF convention this weekend. I think it has great potential. Ill wait until im better at carving before i attempt this one. What do you think?

after looking at the photo its clear 1st branch(on right) needs to brought down and apex need to be replaced with a straight one.

What are you going to use as your front?  It sounds like the last 3 pics is the front you want, though I think the nebari is much nicer from the first picture but would require training a new leader as an apex.  Nice base, should make a nice tree.

theres not many roots on the right of the tree if that is the front, not to mention it puts the first branch in your eye. Correct i have chosen the general orientation of the tree as it is in the last few photos

I also think your first picture might be the right angle.  Want to post a new pic at or near that angle?

in the first pic the roots spread out approximately 10 inches on the left side and like 1-2 inches on the right, in addition look at the major first branch on the right in my last photo, it has almost a 2" diameter where it comes off the trunk, that will now be your new front.
