Title: Collected juniper
Post by: cmswink on April 30, 2016, 01:03 PM
This tree and another were set to be cut down this coming Sunday. I was able to dig one this afternoon and hope to be able to collect the other one tomorrow. Not having a large supply of potting medium or anywhere to aquire the right stuff in a days time I was able to purchase a few large bags of hydro clay pebbles. The tree pictured had the majority of it's feeder roots towards the top of the trunk. I had to make a judgement call and for the top 1/3 layer of soil I used a mix of sphagum, peat, and perlite. All I had on hand. I am glad for this cooler and wet weather we are having in Northwestern Missouri right now.

Nice material. Is it well wired across the roots as well? If not would be worth doing.

Thank you John. Yes. It's wired very well beneth the soil. The tree is very snug in the box. Can't even budge it at all
