California junioper
« on: April 22, 2012, 03:58 PM »
Over Easter weekend I went to Albuquerque for a workshop with Cindy Read from San Diego. She brought some trees along and I grabed this little Cal juniper. It's aboyt 20" by 20". Simple little thing but should be fun and it was very reasonably priced. What do you think ?

Hey Dwight,
glad you enjoyed Cindy, she is a good buddy of mine.  She said you guys were crazy for bonsai and ravenous for bonsai material.  she sold everything she could fit in her station wagon.. Most were from me, so Im happy too.

keep us posted how your proceed with the Californicus...LOL

So you're the Dave she kept saying all that junk about !!
Cindy is the best. I live working with her and am jealous of anwone who lives west of here. If you get a vhance show her these pics. She was wondering how this little guy would look when he finally got into a position where he was happy. When I took it out of that big plastic container it practically fought me to be planted like this.

Any updates on your tree.  How is it doing and recovering.  they can be slow.

First year they sleep
2nd year they creep
3rd year they leap

good luck

I think due to its time with Cibdy it's in the creeping phase.  It's growing a little but probably due to relocation and repotting it's RREEEAAAALLLLL slow. Looking forward to next year.
