Blaauw Shimpaku (Blue Shimpaku)

(1/3) > >>

Yenling83:
I was potentially thinking of trying to graft Blaauw Shimpaku juniper onto a collected Sierra Juniper.  Was curious if anyone has seen this before or has pictures?  Seems kind of fitting that they are both blue/green.

Anyone know where I could purchase small Blaauw whips?

MatsuBonsai:
Well, there's always Brent, http://www.evergreengardenworks.com/juniperu.htm

John Kirby:
The liner soyrce has "blue sargents juniper" aka a slightly coarser shimpaku in 2" pots for sale. Googlr liner source and look at the availability page. John

Darn it!  Great suggestion John, too bad the only state they do not ship too is CA.  That would have been perfect-good prices too.

Brent is only carrying 1 gallon size, which I guess could work.  But I will keep looking first.

So grafting either blue Sargents or blue shimpaku doesn't sound too wacky?  Reason I ask is because I feel like I never see it.  Thanks for your replys!

MatsuBonsai:
Well, what are you trying for?  Smaller, tighter foliage?  Do you have a particular Sierra in mind?  Is it smaller?
