Good job John! I'm not sure if this is applicable, but did the stain go on a bit blotchy? It's always a good idea to use a wood conditioner/Minwax makes one. It ensures that the stain goes down evenly and prevents blotches of light/dark stained areas. Just my thought as one who's worked with wood a fair amount.

I was able to even it out, mostly, through repeated applications, sanding back, and more applications. It looks fairly good in person, but could always be better. I learned a lot with this project, mostly things not to do, or things to do differently.

Bump. Nice work John, you build any more stands now that the CB is here and almost ready to crawl?

Lots of other projects in the works, baby duty, and career has me pretty busy. That, and not having any plans to exhibit in the near future I haven't made any plans for another build just yet.
