And finally, Bill's near-perfect Koto-hime.

That tree is really wonderful on so many levels.  Bill V. has done very well developing it and making it look real.  Its very classy.

Thanks everyone! Glad you like my maples in Nashville. However I think there may be a mix-up. Koto Hime and Shishigashira maples are similar to those with untrained eyes or who do not grow the two. Koto Hime foliage is much smaller than Shishigashira. My Shishigashira has small leaves which I've developed during the past 40 some years.

Shishigashira 1972

Shishigashira current

Koto Hime, June 1986, bonsai developed from that top air layer

Thanks for the clarification...my mistake.  I owned a shishigashira for about 5 years and never saw it grow more than 1/4" taller each year.  I finally gave up and sold it.
Maybe the moderator will correct my post to avoid any further confusion...

And if you want to find out how Bill developed those maples, get his Classical Bonsai Art: A Half Century of Bonsai Study book. We bought it in Nashville from him and it's definitely worth it!
