Dale,

Welcome to the Bonsai Study Group.  Can you share any information regarding these pots?

Looking forward to many more informative posts from you in the near future.

Hi Dale. Just have to say, while I enjoy most of your pots, this thing with the bamboo rim really caught my attention. It's a small detail, but very well executed. In a world (bonsai) where small details can make or break a tree, this is just the kind of thing we don't see enough of. Very nice :)

Thanks guys.
Heather, I have been decorating pots with bamboo now since 2005.
Some are electric kiln fired and some are gas kiln fired.
I use various methods: impressing, carving, building up with attachments. I'm working on two larger ones right now.
Here are a few done various ways but all decorated with bamboo, or, bamboo as I see it! :)

BTW, the first picture, the smaller bamboo wrapped log I made especially for Irene.

Heather, did you work for Rich on L.I.?  If so, what is the status of the nursery as of late?

I admit, I'm a little in love with that third one!

And yup, I did. He just never recovered from the loss after the fire. We ran a fundraiser, and he was trying to get it going again, but then the economy tanked, and that was pretty much it unfortunately.

Heather,
I thought you might enjoy these.
This is a shot of a couple of drying pots in a new 3D series I'm doing of  bamboo pots. I have some great ideas coming in these for all styles of pots.
This is a newly developed med. brown clay I'm testing and these will be final fired unglazed with iron oxide highlites.

;D  Irene, these aren't done yet so not priced. I don't normally show unfinished pots, I just thought Heather might enjoy them.
These are sitting on 14" bats right now in the pic so you can get an idea., but will shrink about 10% overall before done.
There will be many more in various styles.
Lots of work in these....they won't be cheap! ;D

Here are a couple more bamboo pots that are slowly drying.
First is two views of a cascade.

Second is two views of a bamboo oval which also has bamboo feet. Quite a bit of time in this pot!

I'm not quite sure which, if any, of these I might finish with a glaze.

Irene is not alowd to get any more of Dale's pots until everyone else has a chance.   The dry riverbed medium  about how deep is it, and how much?  Thats a beatiful pot.     andy

That pot is gone. I think only one left in first 4 is the last bamboo rim one? About 8" , but, packed away. I have some in the kiln right now similar to one you mentioned. Will look in a couple days.

Andrew,
Here is one I just took out of the kiln. Very similar to one you asked about.
10" wide and 2 5/8" tall.
