Here's one of Dale's pots with a 32 inch tall quercus agrifolia. Dale made this pot to order. It is special!!

Dale,

I asked in chat, and thought I would repeat here for all to see.  I would like to know more about the bamboo pots.  Are these leather hard or have they been fired?  Do you have any after pictures?

Much appreciated

They are made from a newly developed clay.
Pictures were taken after completion but leather hard.
The clay, and way I'll finish it, will come out looking about like the base clay of this pot which is from same clay.

They are fired.
Here are some finished color pics.
The first two pics of the oval are the truest colors.

Dale, I'm looking for a med. size round pot for this larch.  I like the drb banded quite a bit.  Also, the style of Mike Page's pot and also the first group. Any suggestion you think may work?  Sorry in advance for the crappy pic and we can move this conversation to PM if you like.  Thanks.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for looking....I knew someone must be?
Yes I remember you ( and wife), did she check out those orange boots at Dr. Marten yet??? :o

First we need to get your tree styled/wired. My suggestion is to shorten it to this point where you can work in a new top and wire out all the branches. Shortening it will make it look more powerful than the tall, lanky look.
Also, remove the rock.

A larch would look great in a rugged round pot and I do MANY. I'd recommend one without the band for your larch. Just my opinion but I could always do one with a more rugged band, in fact I have one drying right now which uses 3 clays.

Mikes BIG pot was a scaled-up version of this 10ish " pot that he liked and asked if i could make it bigger....a LOT bigger. Here it is in the original scale. They often look diferent when the width/depth/height are recalculated to fit different trees.
To make a custom pot I need INSIDE width and depth, and NO GUESSING, you have to measure!

Regards,
Dale

Thanks for the insights, I'm not looking for a custom built pot at the moment.  I just really liked the looks of what you had at the show, and wanted to start on a collection.  The one you chose certainly suits my fancy, and the size sounds about right.  If you've got that one or anything similar, shoot me a p.m. with details.

Thanks Dave

p.s. the rock was just setting there because it had been really windy.

Some more recent pots still on the drying tables.
I snapped these this AM while taking some pics of some commissioned pots.
Many more ideas coming and in the works.

Dale,

I really like the dragon pot.  What are the dimensions?
