Title: Egret flower
Post by: MatsuBonsai on July 28, 2009, 07:46 PM
I snapped this picture a few years ago on my first trip to the Bay Area.  I had all but forgotten about it when I found it looking through some pictures.  I plan to locate a source for these in spring.

Egret Flower (Habenaria radiata)

Very cool. Do you know how small they are? Good luck locating one.

Beautyful !
I tried them about 25 years ago but only got one or two blooms. Never could over winter the bulbs. Keep up the good work. Billkcmo

I had quite a few.  We'll see what pops in Spring.  They are unfortunately, expensive.

I love these and have been looking for some for a long time and my neighbor is an orchid judge and still I wait.
Michael Hagedorn  featured  them on his blog a while ago. I know they are tricky and must be kept dry all winter.

Sweet.

Very. I read that they're so averse to H20 when dormant one grower puts them on the greenhouse electric box to make sure no one waters them.

Very cool, beautiful. Do you know how about its planting environment?

I want to plant in my garden.
